You Shot The Camera!

Well thankfully we get to go back to photographing and videoing our outdoor excursions today! My friend's son did something almost unimaginable last Monday... He shot the camera while we were in the blind but weirdly enough that's covered under the warranty... Oh well I guess your child's maturity level is what matters, and not there age when you hand them a loaded weapon. The 7 year old shot a turkey the 11 year old put a new window in the blind and turned a $250 camera into a paperweight... Anyways we've been out planting our food plots and hanging trail cameras out and about everywhere. In addition to looking for places to put a few stands and a couple of blinds... Why would you put out a blind in June you ask? So that the deer are used to it come September! Early preparation is the key to any successful outdoor activity! Whether you are organizing your tackle or going into the woods knowing where the game is heading at any time of  the day. Always be prepared! Anyways we've got some fishing to do see ya'll later!

Day 3... Delayed and Turkey Hunting Too... S#%T!

While day 3 was delayed due to another storm which really kinda sucked because my son got out early for it being the last day of school... The turkey hunt started with us waking up at 4:45 am and heading over to our primary spot and setting up the blind only to have a horrific occurrence at around 7 am this morning when the damn release broke...

So it's back to the house to grab the fishing gear and to wait on the mail since I was smart enough to order a new 2 ones on Wednesday night when the old one felt "off", but unfortunately they aren't arriving until this afternoon. Oh well we are gonna just grab our usual gear none of the gimmicks and go kill some time and catch us a few fish.

The camera will be rolling all day so hopefully we can hit ya'll with another post! If not have a safe happy Memorial Day weekend!

Day 2 Finally

So we finally got out for Day 2 and it was a fun time we got a lot of nibbles and quite a few bites despite a lot of the fish still being on the beds... We ended up with 2 perch, 5 crappie, 10 walleye (which was kinda funny because I forgot the lake here even had them in there until I seen the look on my son's face haha!) 12 smallmouth, and 22 largemouth. This time there was actually a notable discrepancy in the numbers between the two baits... All but five fish were caught on the Mighty Bite Lures! Not that it was a surprise given the size of the fish we were on the Banjo Minnow 006 pretty much wasn't gonna fly today. Up top is the average size fish we were catching.
We've got one more day of fishing this week and then hopefully we get to close the turkey season strong this weekend! If it's raining I actually plan on breaking out a secret weapon... The squealing hen call we went out last weekend and used it and they came sprinting in to it when they weren't really responding to anything else. Thanks to the lightning though we couldn't stay out to get a shot though.

Day 1 Results

So day 1 of the testing got started at 3:57 and we had forgot the camera at 4:13 when we reeled in the first fish of the day it wasn't a monster by any means, but it still would have been better for ya'll readers. Anyways the best thing I can tell anyone looking to decide between the two sets is for the little fisherman in the family the Mighty Bite Lures are the best choice they are easy to work. The Banjo Minnow 006 on the other hand is pretty good in the hands of an experienced tournament winning angler. On the other hand it wasn't that much better today than a Strike King 3X Zulu soft plastic jerkbait. All in all we ended catching 16 bass, 5 crappie,2 catfish and carp, 1 drum and bluegill at the local lake. We had to cut it a little short at 7:41 due to the big storm rolling in with lightning and heavy rain. Safety first even if they are biting good live to fish another day! Hopefully we can get back out there again tomorrow after school is out!
